About the Photographer

Hi there, I’m Nicole.

It all began when I was young. I picked up a piece of chalk with my left hand and the rest, as they say, was history. While my friends were drawing flowers on the sidewalk, I used my chalk to create elaborate floor plans. I cut out photos of food, flowers, and backyard playhouses from magazines and catalogs, spread them out on my bedroom floor, studied my arrangements, and tucked them away in a shoebox until the next time I felt the urge to take scissors to my momma's old issues of Southern Accents and Better Homes and Gardens. I was studying photographic composition in my Montessori days and didn’t even realize it.

Today, an architectural and interior design background coupled with years of intensive ballet training have contributed greatly to my conceptualization of space and movement of the human form. Photography is much more to me than clicking a shutter button. It’s my therapy. When I’m behind a lens, the right side of my brain awakens and views the life before me as a cinematic and artistic presence. The rest of the world fades away, my heart smiles, and I realize there are few things that bring me as much peace as when I’m slowing time to capture a fleeting moment.

My style is simple. I believe in timeless images that are natural, genuine, and joyful. My guidance throughout the shoot is laid back and always punctuated with laughter. I want to connect with you not only as a client, but as a friend. Life should be celebrated, so let’s photograph accordingly.

Professional Background

My inclination toward the arts followed me all the way through college. I studied interior design at Baylor University for two years before I finally realized that the academic side of design severely limits the creative thought process. It was at this point that I decided to merge my design experience with hospitality. I earned my Hotel and Restaurant Management degree from the University of Houston and have worked nine years in the fast-paced Houston wedding industry. I have experienced all aspects of weddings from concept development and planning to coordination and catering management. I have executed events at more than 80 different venues, and my designs have been featured in world-renowned publications Carats and CakeElizabeth Anne Designs, and Style Me Pretty
